Lao American Women Association, Washington DC
Metropolitan Area, was incorporated in the
State of Virginia
as a non-profit organization in early 1995.
LAWA is the first Lao women's organization in the nation's capital
established by Lao American women.
Four Lao born American women from Maryland and Virginia, under the leadership of Mrs. Khoune Souvannavong,
Mrs. Bounheng Inversin, Mrs. Viengmone Sophavandy, Mrs. Bounchanh
Senthavong, they came together with the same vision and compassion to
promote Lao heritage. Since then, we have grown and thrive to make the
organization stronger and make a difference in our Lao community and
Lao American Women Association (LAWA) is the first grass root
non-profit organization in the nation's capital region, established by
Lao-born American women to empower Lao American Women, preserve and
promote Lao culture and promote higher education.
